The business

A founder led services business operating in the facilities and property support sector, working with commercial sites and managing agents across the North West. The company employs just over 80 staff across field and office roles and has grown steadily through repeat work and referrals.

Payroll has historically sat within finance but is now being given its own focus as headcount grows and reporting requirements increase.

The role

This is a hands on payroll role with full ownership of the monthly and weekly payroll cycles. You will be the go to person for payroll queries and will work closely with finance and HR to keep records accurate and up to date.

The environment is practical and down to earth. The founder and Operations Director value people who are reliable, organised, and clear in how they communicate.

Key responsibilities

• End to end processing of monthly and weekly payrolls

• Managing starters, leavers, and contractual changes

• Processing SSP, SMP and other statutory payments

• Pension submissions and reconciliation

• HMRC submissions and dealing with queries

• Maintaining accurate payroll records and audit trails

• Liaising with HR on employee data and compliance

• Reviewing payroll processes and suggesting improvements

About you

• Previous payroll experience in a standalone or small team role

• Good working knowledge of UK payroll legislation

• Comfortable handling payroll queries directly with staff

• Confident using payroll software and Excel

• Organised and able to work to deadlines

• Discreet and professional with sensitive information
